ARBOR WEEK 2020

Every year the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries celebrates Arbor Week by promoting the planting of indigenous trees as a practical and symbolic gesture of sustainable environmental management.

A new season is always a good time to start new things, so we thought why not?  In celebration of Arbor Week and as the start of a new yearly tradition, members of our student representative council planted the tree of the year, Ekebergia Capensis (commonly known as the Cape Ash).  This living legacy also serves as a symbol that, wherever life may lead them, their roots remain with us.

A huge thank you to Arboreta Nurseries for donating the tree and compost to make this initiative possible.
