From 23-25 June 2021, Hugenote Kollege made history in the midst of a global pandemic.
The Schools of Reformation and Theology held their first joint hybrid conference. Social workers, theologians, pastors and academics shared their knowledge and experience at the conference, Rethinking Resilience: Reflecting on online teaching, learning and health during the Covid-19 pandemic. The two keynote speakers, Professor Adrian van Breda and Professor Yolanda Dreyer provided attendees with their insights on resilience, what it is and how it is prevalent within the South African context. Various presenters shared their knowledge and experiences on mental health, social work practice, missionary work and online teaching and learning.
Furthermore, Bachelor of Social Work students engaged in discussions with staff regarding their experiences of online learning at Hugenote Kollege during Covid-19. Overall, the conference was a success, regardless of the emergence of the third wave of the Covid-19 virus.
Thank you to Dr Annette Potgieter for initiating and promoting the conference and Fraser Jackson for his support in the technical aspects.
